Steingross-Yacht Equipment was founded on 1st February, 2004. The company owns exclusive selling rights for the Flying Dutchman Dinghy, type FES Style II/02.
The Sales Manager, Uwe Steingross, had the vision of a new version of this fast dinghy, which was presented to the public by the Dutchmen, Conrad Culcher und Uus van Essen, in 1952 and which had a strong impact on the Olympic sailing circuit for three decades.
Revolutionary shapes, new materials and innovative creations in the area of sailing technique are attributed to the Flying Dutchman due to the contribution of the active yachtsmen themselves.
One of them is Uwe Steingross, a two-time participant of the Olympic games and considered world class in this area since the 70s and 80s.
He now has combined his vast experience with the hi-tech know-how of the renowned "Institut für Forschung und Entwicklung von Sportgeräten" (Institute for Research and Development of Sporting Equipment) - the so-called FES. Since the 70s this institute has refined their own experience in the field of FD construction as this was where boats for the successful eastern German yachtsmen were developed.
